Monologue:/獨白

Monologue:/獨白 is an experimental video work rooted in site-specific practice. Constructed through a bilingual monologue, the piece creates a sonic theater that grants agency to non-human perspectives—a river and trees—unfolding a poetic yet indirect dialogue within a unified narrative framework. Through the defamiliarization of language, the artist connects whispered vocals and the material process of cyanotype development with visual imagery of southern villages and wetland landscapes.

Rooted in Niutianyang, Shantou—a site fraught with historical memory—the work folds the collective trauma left by typhoon disasters into the interstices of sight and sound. Traversing the boundary between fiction and history across shifting spatiotemporal layers and alternating roles, it explores the covert tension between humanity and nature: an intrinsically unified bond, artificially severed and set in opposition.
